Q: Has anyone used Portable Partitions before? Im planning on buying their "Tall Wall wall mounted expandable partition system" to divide our living room and create a guest room/kid's room. I'm afraid it might look "officey" though.
Here's a look at the product in question: Portable Partitions.

Howard Butcher Bloc...
Hmm.... yes, looks a little office-y. But it also says they accept the hook side of Velcro, so perhaps it's an easy fix with some great fabric across the panels.
for that price you could get some really nice room dividers/screens. It's not like these will provide pure privacy anyway..
It does look officey- its the shiny plastic trim and polyester cubical wall fabric- and its not cheap! I'd reccomend having a look at some of the wardrobe-door room dividers on IKEAhackers.
Also, don't forget Shoji screens!
I agree with the Shoji screens. However, they can be delicate, and if this is for a kid's room they may not be such a good idea.
However, if this is really just for temporary privacy for a guest room, you could go with just a curtain. It's a much cheaper solution and takes up much less room when not in use.
Pressurized walls might be a better solution. They can be fitted with real doors and painted and wind up looking just like real walls. http://mpwnyc.com/ is one example of a company that does this in NYC.

Hospital Curtains might be a better solution

Similar to the portable partitions, you might try Screenflex. They also look a bit officey but come in a variety of colors and can be wall mounted if you want!
Yep they look office-y.
