In our office, we have a phrase we like to toss around... if a product's trying a little too hard to cash in on a trend, we call it a "bird on a stick." Fred Armisen (SNL) and Carrie Brownstein (formerly in Sleater-Kinney) know what we're sayin'. Their new show, Portlandia, mocks a range of hipster stereotypes, from locavores to indie designers to — we can't escape the embarrassing truth — distracted multi-tasking bloggers obsessed with top 10 lists. See what we mean and click through to watch…
The duo's skits all take place in Portland, the city "where young people go to retire." For anyone who remembers the nineties fondly, belongs to an adult hide-and-seek league, or fact-checks the chicken's dossier when they're ordering from a local restaurant, this is a comedy that will hit close to home. Here are three of our favorite skits — to see the rest, watch Portlandia on IFC.com.

this show is f*ing HILAR.
It hurts so good.
I went to Portland for the first time this summer. Can't stop laughing when I see these episodes - they're brilliant!
I just finished a large painting for a client of his fave places in Portland, including the statue called "Portlandia". I didn't realize there was a tv show...gotta check it out. Thanks, AT!
I actually have birds all over my house... I'm vegetarian that eats organic... can't stop laughing... this show is too funny
This could be almost anywhere in the SF Bay Area...
I love that shop in Portland! Glad to see they're shooting on location. Also...Hulu had a sneek peak, soo very funny.
I live in Portland, and the logo for my business is a bird! Absolutely hilarious. I can't wait to see more of this show and laugh along at our particular "Portland culture".
this is so hilarious.
it could be vancouver....there was an actual lunch room discussion on quinoa preparation, use and pronunciation at my workplace....sorta like this site but not as cool.
HAHAHA! XD
LATFH.
Where young people go to retire.
This is my new favorite show. I'm going to go put a bird on it!
May all the birds, delicately perched on local organic recycled sticks, keep calm and carry on.
I find it funny that ATers find this funny. THAT is funny.
PS: Two more clips, and you can have every part of the AT network covered!
Love it.
Oh, I can't wait for people to ask if Portland is just like Portlandia. Can't wait.
As a Portlander, I am looking forward to the episode about bikes...such a Portland thing! And, yes, Brianna, some of that first episode, while slightly exaggerated, does ring true :) I'm signed up to be an extra on the show so I hope they bring it back next season!
I love this show! I hope I will be able to watch it on iTunes or Hulu since we don't have cable...
So hilarious.
i want to show this to my hipster friend, but i don't want to offend him. however he does frequent latfh.com...
i'm another pdxer- so funny. we can certainly poke fun at ourselves. just this morning i spotted 2 tall bikes outside a local coffee house, sported my birdie bag, and stocked up on organic foods with pretentious names. *sigh* we are what we are. :-)
If I could put a bird on this comment, I would.

I don't know. I was excited for this show, but I watched it and found it a little dull. It has a lot of great one-liners (where young people go to retire) but overall, I know its supposed to read a little dry but it seems like maybe I'm just a tad out of the demographic. I get the jokes, and I like Fred Armisen, and I'm pretty much a hipster but something just doesn't quite click.
oh i also used to make bird sculptures
I agree with sneakers, I was very excited for the show based on previews, but in reality it isn't that good. All the sketches are hit-or-miss, usually a miss.
