This national symbol of Portugal - the rooster (galo), symbolizes honesty, integrity, trust and honor. We received a tiny ceramic rooster from a Portuguese roommate several years ago, and have held on to it through our many moves (it always winds up in the kitchen). Anyone else cherish one of these at home? Anyone been to Barcelos, the famed town known for its pottery?

I have a small one on my kitchen stove, a lovely reminder of my trip to Portugal.
I live in Portuguese neighbourhood and there's one in virtually every store and restaurant, usually on a high shelf, presiding over the fray.
I have a BIG one at home... in Portugal. It would be nice to have one here in DC too :)
I do live in Portugal, I've been in Barcelos, and I have no rooster at home, but I've seen some in great colors (pink, green, blue,...), they're coming back to Portuguese homes now, I think...
