Q: Where do people put their purses? I'd like some creative ideas, because the floor isn't cutting it!

Do mean to store, or when you get home from work? For storage, I have a thing on the wall with a row of coat hooks (I don't have that many purses, only 3-4).
For my everyday purse/laptop bag, I have a designated chair by the front door where it goes. Kind of like a landing strip annex.
I have one of those 12 in. cube organizers in my closet (like from target or IKEA) with 12 cubes. Each cube gets a bag. I have about 12 bags. This way I can leave the dust bag in the cubes while the purses are out and one cube holds smaller bags, like clutches etc.
Some precious ones are safely stored away in dust bags in the closet.
Others are hung on a coat tree making it a colorful purse/bag tree.
I've been keeping my rarely used bags under my bed in a storage container, but in a cleaning fit this weekend I got rid of about ten of them. I cycle 3 or 4 of my bags constantly and keep those hung up on a rack by my front door. I store my clutches and smaller purses in a box on my dresser. I think with my remaining bags I'll try one of those industrial-but-chic hanging chain storage ideas; http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/la/look/chain-hangers-industrial-diy-storage-059382 although that may be hard to keep them in the dust bag...
I have one of these

It's pretty awesome, and they come in all sorts of cool patterns and colors.
Whichever bags aren't currently in use are stored on the top shelves in my closet. If I didn't have those closet shelves, I'd clear out the top two shelves in my bookcase.
BTW, it's a good idea to stuff your bags with paper when they're not in use so they keep their shape. They can collapse when left empty for weeks at a time.
I keep mine in dust bags in a hanging sweater shelf in my closet.
Keeping them on hooks ruins the straps!

the samples pictured were from target
I just keep them in two boxes in my closet; one for small ones and one for larger ones. Obviously not a good idea if you have delicate purses.
I purchased two very ornate hooks from an antique shop and mounted them near my front door. My two favorite purses hang from the hooks and grabbing one on my way out the door is easy as is having them hang side by side so I can empty the contents of one into the other. I've used this method for a couple of years and it works great. Additionally, I also have a foyer table with a tray for keys and a large basket on the floor for shoes. Walking through the door, hanging up the purse, kicking the shoes into the basket, putting the keys onto the tray makes me feel organized. Now, if I could only organize the rest of my life....
I am no help at all except I totally love the photograph!!!
I also have the Simply Sarah organizers mentioned above, and I love them.
I used Ikea's BYGEL rails and hooks to make a purse storage - maybe not the cutest solution, but very cheap and easy!
You can see it on my Flickr:

I have all mine in a tote under the bed. Once when I had a stupidly shallow closet (we're talkign 6-7 inches...) i just filled it with pegs and put a bag on each one... that was fun, but I'm glad I have a real closet now...
I saw these at a store called Solutions yesterday up here in Toronto... it's by Umbra.. for 16.99 you get these three stainless steel clamps (kind of like the ones you use to reseal chip bags, etc) that round between the two jaws to hold the handle of your purse without damaging it. I thought they we're kinda cool and will probably be purchasing them for the closet in our new pad.
I don't see it on the webpage or I'd link it instead of giving that awful description, sorry!
I used to keep mine (maybe 20-30) one of those satellite-looking racks from Ikea. Now I've got the 9-10 I use regularly on a series of hooks and the rest in hat boxes. Man I need to reduce.
i'm the questioner: thanks for everyone's ideas! finding somewhere to store the bags i'm using (i have about 5-6 i switch through depending on what i need to carry) it so tough, there's some great solutions here!
I also have the Simply Sarah Handy Hold All and LOVE it.

I have two. One I hang necklaces on and the other one purses. The purse one I put a bag on the bottom loop to hold all my clutches and belts!
