Tree of Light. Reader Chris sent us this link to Nick Foley's Pear tree with rechargable Pear LEDs. Somewhat similar to Candela, the pears hold 10 LEDs and can be "picked" from the tree. The pears emit light for about an hour and then can be recharged by placing them back on the branches...

So cool!

love it! clever and beeyootiful.
That would be "emit," not "omit."
Cool lights.
That is just lovely.
Loves this!
I want one. How many thousands will this run me?
where can we buy this?
Thanks Joan A.
The links to the product both on this page and on ohgizmo don't work for me (I get a script runtime error).... Can anyone else see where to go to get this?
Cute, but I would be afraid of severly injuring my feet by running into that base.
Features like this should always include the price. I clicked the links and couldn't find out. Seems like pears are everywhere lately. I bought a toddler dress with pears today. My son used to eat a sliced pear every night with storytime, and I have a soft spot for pears.
I agree, JohnnySlimane. The pears look so great (and I want those pear lights!), but the tree itself looks a little sinister and unfriendly. Wonder if there's another way to charge up that nice fruit....
I want it! (drool)
Very nice. In German a light bulb is called a glowing pear.
