Petra Island Paradise. Looking at the original drawings from 1950, it is easy to understand how Frank Lloyd Wright's house designed for Petra Island (a private island on Lake Mahopac, about 50 miles north of New York City) was just completed — construction of the 5,000 sq. ft. house was extremely cost-prohibitive. In New York Magazine's Home Design feature, Loving Frank, readers get a glimpse at the property and the controversy it has caused between owner Joseph Massaro and the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation. But we understand you just want to see the house...

Certainly "Wright-like" -- but I think it lacks a lot of subtle detailing and proportions that Frank would have added/refined in the building process.
Nonetheless, beats most of the McMansion crap being built today!
Love the boulders protruding through the wall & floor. It's like the Star Trek TNG episode where a ship tries to pass through an asteroid with an experimental technology which fails and leaves half of the ship embedded in the asteroid.
Usonian in concept – but doesn’t the property have a signature motif, as usually feature in FLW designs.
