Nomade Express Slee...
I was sooo looking forward to smash-cake pictures at my daughter's first birthday last month. Instead, she delicately ate her cupcake as if she were defusing a bomb. I needn't have even bothered with a bib.

Lola was a dainty eater at her party. I guess she was afraid to let loose while everyone was watching. But the following week we had her one year photos taken and she did an excellent job at smashing!
These are lovely, must remember to do this when my time comes! skinnymcginny - I love your little Lola pictures too.
Aw!! So cute!!! :) My dad would let my brother do this with peanut butter and jelly.
Hoping to get a bigger reaction at his 2nd birthday... on his first, all he'd do is poke the cake, he didn't even taste it!
My little cousin, Bella, had a smashing time at her party, too.

When I decorated wedding cakes at a shop, we always loved doing first birthday cakes more than wedding cakes! The parents more often than not would drop so much money it was silly on a beautiful tiered cake for their friends and family and when we offered a smash cake for their child, they didn't want one or could care less what it looked like, which was a shame. They're so much fun!
