If you're stuck in a rut bringing out the easel and paints and want to try something new to liven things up, you'll find plenty of inspiration at Roopa's blog, Putti Prapancha, and all you need are materials you probably already have around the house. Can you guess what these flowers are made of?

If you have straws, a paper plate, and pistachio shells (that's right- painted pistachio nuts created the flowers in the first photo!) - you can make all three of these crafts, but Roopa has a lot more ideas over at Putti Prapancha.

1. Use leftover pistachio shells for gluing, painting, and creating.

2. Spin a paper plate with paint to achieve this work of art.

3. Use cut straws as paintbrushes.
