Of all the colors we know, beige is the one with an image problem. It's not pristine and crisp like white, not dark and dramatic like black, and not bright and bold like all the other colors. But is that the end of the story?
Is it boring and bland or a great warm neutral? Check out this nursery bathed in a creamy beige (called Latte from the Restoration Hardware paint line). For a little added interest, the parents painted one feature wall with stripes in a lighter shade of the same color in a semi gloss. The overall effect is soft and warm. So what do you think about beige? Is it misunderstood or does it deserve its bad rep?

Shaw's Original Fir...
it is so peaceful and soothing. I want to go bring my baby in there and rock/nurse her! I love it.
Zzzzzzzzzz.
I just think, how lovely that room would be in white! Beige just makes me sad.
My girls' room is painted in Chocolate and Vanilla Latte (brown and beige), and I love it. The rest of the room is filled with purples, greens, reds and blues. Having neutral walls really makes all the other colors pop.
I do NOT have a problem with beige, what I do have a problem with is finding the *right* beige. It's so difficult and gray just seems easier to get right. But I do love that room (especially with all the sunlight!).
My entire house is beige. it is slightly depressing. We also had to be careful the walls did not end up looking like a jar of peanut butter. I am all for a neutral and switching the decor but this is bland city!
(in my house not the above pic )
it depends on the beige and how its used. we painted in my daughter's room and its a good neutral base but i'm glad its not in every room.
sidenote--i love that they use an ikea desk for a changing table!
I'm sitting in our yet-to-be-renovated beige living room right now, and I really feel depressed. I live in the North of France where it rains a lot, and that color is THE color you should not choose. Sunny yellows, bright blues, dark tones, yes, yes, but that beige color, even though it is beautiful on its own, has a tendency to turn slightly greenish and really sad. When it is grey outside, the beige reflects that.
I have to keep it since we are not ready yet to renovate the living and dining room, but since we finished the green kitchen, I've been spending most of my time there. Can't wait to get rid of that ugly beige, especially now that winter is here...
I used beige for my son's nursery, and I love it. Along with chocolate brown curtains, it serves as a wonderful earthy backdrop for the blues, reds, and greens in his room. I think beige can totally work.
