The right lighting can make any party feel more festive. This paiper mache project, from Reese Dixon, is a fantastic way, to repurpose your Christmas lights. When summer's over, the papier-mache; balls can be stored for the next year and the lights can go back on the tree.
Craft designer Tresa Edmunds came up with this clever project. She actually makes papier-mâché look easy. Tresa estimates that she spent $3 for a string of 30 lights.

Oh, that's great. I'm so doing this.
I like to pick and chose my projects, and this one seems a waste of time. It's really easy to find a string of lights that has small, colorful paper lanterns just like these, that fold up easily to be put away for the winter, for only $12, which is probably less than this project cost. Not that these aren't cute, I would just prefer to spend time on something more worthwhile.
Oh I love these and I love the colors. I am trying to make more handmade and rely less on cheap possibly child labor produced goods. My son loves that children's book, Wabi Sabi and that's what these remind me of, simple, homemade, not polished or seamless but bright and functional. I may try to make some bowls while I'm at it!
