I recently came across this awesome post on how to create watering globes from old glass bottles. It's so simple - all you have to do is submerge the top of the bottle into the dirt and ensure that there is no immediate leakage (and no bubbles coming up to the surface), and voila! Your plants can drink water as they need it! See more tips and photos after the jump.

Shaw's Original Fir...
What a great idea! We have some vintage-style Dr. Pepper bottles that I have been looking to use as well as a semi-neglected houseplant... a perfect combo!
I've just stuck all our old plastic Coke bottles (large and small) as well as a few Sprite ones into my potplants - with the current summer heat in the southern hemisphere, it's going to save me a lot of hassle trying to keep the things alive :-)
Ugly look but brillant idea!
I used wine bottles when I went on vacation.
Everything made it through!
