Pedestal sinks not only save space in a small bathroom, but they can also add visual interest. Pedestal sinks originated in the early 1900s, but remain a timeless, classic style, offered in many different sizes, shapes, and materials to work within a variety of bathroom spaces. Here are some of our personal favorites.
Pedestal sinks work well in guest bathrooms, children's bathrooms, and small bathrooms. They are rather inexpensive and a nice selection can be found at Home Depot or Lowe's. We searched through past house tours and other online resources to find a round up of inspirational bathrooms incorporating pedestal sinks.

I agree with you, I like pedestal sinks in a small bathroom. But otherwise, I still like to have the sink in a cabinet for storage. But in a 1/2 bath, they're great. Just an idea...what do you think about 2 pedestal sinks in a master bath that has plenty of other cabinets? I've never seen that done.
I think Emily and Meeko's bathroom might *almost* be as small as mine...
I had a pedestal sink in a small bathroom and HATED IT! You miss the storage underneath, and things were always falling out of the overstuffed medicine cabinet which resulted in dings and cracks in the sink bowl. As julip8 said, maybe in a half-bath... or one that did not get used much.
I'm with ajperez. I'm not fond of pedestal sinks, either. Storage space is never too large. I like to hide most things and simplify my bathroom so the storage underneath the sink is a must for me, especially in a small bathroom... I guess it's OK in a guest bath though.
I like pedestal sinks...in a smaller bathroom. I would have a vanity sink for storage in a larger bathroom. I've seen photos of pedestal sinks with a skirt, held by velcro on the bottom...so that's one way to hide things. In photo #2, that's a very smart way for storage...a small cabinet on both sides of the sink.
..smart idea.. (oops)
Beautiful pics, but I've got 2 questions:
1) I thought that a pedestal sink had one large "foot", i.e. so it looks like the sink is on a pedestal. So the drop-in sinks on a surface with legs (photos 3, 7 and 9), are they pedestal sinks too?
and
2) How can a pedestal sink save more space than a wall-mounted, non-pedestal sink that leaves space free underneath it? I can't really get my head around that....!
I don't think they are claiming a pedestal saves versus a wall mount... just versus a vanity.
ajperez--
Sounds to me like the bathroom problem is not the pedestal sink...!
