I'd love to hear if anyone has this. It actually looks safer than the Tripp Trapp. I have two Tripp Trapps and my kids and I love them but I still have concerns about its safety, namely the tipping hazard. Also, my 18-month-old daughter is quite the little Houdini and can get out of her baby straps though she's still too young to go without them entirely.
Frankly, I have this on my 'to buy' list because of the tray. When the Ikea Antilop we currently have gets too small, we wanted a Tripp Trapp but...no tray. I've gotten to liking the tray so I can be relaxed about the mess factor. So knockoff it is!
I considere the knockoff, but went with the Tripp Trapp in the end. I based my decision on the online reviews the One Step Ahead model had. I love my Tripp Trapp, but what do I know? We've been eating solids for two weeks! :)
My son (3 3/4 years old) has been using one for about 3 weeks now as we needed his Svan for the baby (6 months).
Pros:
- Very sturdy! We've even sat on it!
- Love that its adjustable - can grow with him and I think he likes it better than the Svan now that he's older
- Looks great, I think
Cons:
- Straps are a mess - we might just cut them off as we won't need them but good luck if you do need them
- Seat cushion isn't covered - we're not handy with thread and material so he just sits on the vinyl plastic but it looks a little cheap.
We didn't install the baby bar so can't comment on it. I give it a 9/10 - esp. for the price (not even Ikea has something this good for toddlers)!
We've got this chair, my daughter likes it, i'm on the fence:
like someone else said, the straps are a mess, i've got mine bundled in a rubberband under the seat and the plastic cushion looks cheap too and you can't even remove it because there are velcro strips on the wooden seat. i've also found that the actual seat slides around a lot, which is a potential safety hazard.
