I'm surprised that you haven't covered Peapod travel beds.
They look like baby pup tents and have an inflatable mattress insert. I recent;y used them traveling to visit family with my one-year-old twins and they were not only a lot less expensive than pack n' play style cribs (which I have) but they were also waaaaaaaay more compact and lightweight. The boys did as well in them (lets all just admit that babies find traveling disorienting) as they have in the pack n' plays and they saved me major packing/crib renting headaches.
CARES harness for the plane.
The Ergo Baby Carrier is a must for plane travel.
