As Rosabeth's first birthday was approaching I excitedly started planning her party. I wanted a gathering of family and friend to help celebrate our Rose turning one. I also wanted it to be a celebration of our family overcoming a year of major changes; having a baby, graduating law school, moving across country, and passing the bar all while learning how to enjoy everyday life.
I chose red and aqua because to me they are classic, gender neutral colors. I brought in a polka dot to let everyone know that this is a little girl's birthday party and I have to confess that I have a slight obsession for them as well. Some of the personal touches that I had fun making were the felt pennants for the rosette cake, the doily table bunting, and Rosabeth's felt headband bow.
As with any one year old's birthday party the eating, smashing, searing of the cake was the best part. It took Rosabeth a few minutes to warm up to having it on her hands but she soon got the hang of it enjoyed eating her first piece of birthday cake.
