Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte, designed by Lara Crow
Belgian design studio Beshart commissioned 100 artists to re-imagine the covers of the 100 greatest novels of all time. The projects is called DoeDeMee, and the concept is designed to celebrate books while also raising awareness of illiteracy. A portion of each poster sale goes to fund UNESCO literacy programs. This project really struck a chord with me, since I am someone who has strong emotional connections to my favorite books. The gift of literacy has meant a lifetime of knowing that knowledge, adventure, inspiration, and enlightenment are all at my fingertips.
DoDeMee (in partnership with UNESCO) celebrates some of our favorite books through posters of delightfully re-imagined covers, while also working to promote literacy programs, so that future readers can shed tears for Gatsby and Daisy, or have their young world rocked by Catcher in the Rye or their soul stirred by Atonement.
Check out all 100 posters and read more about this project at DoeDeMee. (And see a list of the 100 greatest novels of all time here.)
