With many families still struggling in today's economic climate, showering your children with expensive toys is not as easy as it once was. Many families are focusing on being thankful for what they have and thinking of creative solutions for the upcoming holiday season.
My husband and I personally are saving for baby number two and trying to purchase gifts for a large extended family this Christmas. We're hoping that with a little time and elbow grease we can still give our daughter that thrilling 'mountain' of gifts, so I've been scouring the web for DIY toy ideas. Here are ten of my favorites that any little one is sure to love this holiday season (or any time of year).
1. Cardboard Guitar - Makedo
2. Marble Maze - Hellobee
3. Play Dough - Modern Parents Messy Kids
4. Child Swing - Pinjacolada

6. Handmade City Play Mat - Playful Learning
7. Duct Tape River Raft - Handmade Charlotte

Where's the bucket swing? Aahahahahaaha. Never forget.
These are awesome, thank you!
I love this ! I mean using the plastic tightener from a loaf of bread is clever. I'm so going to make the guitar, although I think I have to buy the clips...we'll see. & the parking garage is soo cool, I have some left over foam core for that! yay my son will love it. great post.
This was a really great article! Look at other helpful parents reviews at www.parentsreviewproducts.com
Making a gift for your kid is awesome! We write one book per kid per year for our children. It's been fun to make them more and more complex as the kids grow older. This year we wrote a choose-your-own-adventure for our 7 year old!
Also, I sell instruction kits for building large toys - a play kitchen, a play washer and dryer, and a play store. They take a day to build and use cardboard, glue, and a few odds and ends. Check it out: fortytworoads.etsy.com.
