It's Cyber Monday, and a lot of us are returning back to work after a nice time off over the last few days. It has been quite relaxing, unless you spent most of your Friday battling the crowds to get your Christmas shopping done during Black Friday. Did you manage to get everything done or do you still have to shop?
I have to be honest. I didn't take part of a Black Friday shopping spree; I took part in Buy Nothing Day and I didn't buy anything. Do I regret not taking part? Not really, however I still have some shopping to do before Christmas. How about you?
Time is quickly running out to get your purchases in order before Christmas. You still have plenty of time to go, especially if you are planning on using online retailers. Most of them will guarantee that you'll receive your packets in a couple of days, but we've learned that it's best to err on the side of caution and get it all done before it's too late.
Using apps on your smartphone while shopping locally is definitely a smart idea to get an idea what's being offered at a variety of retailers. The fact that you can scan barcodes using the camera of your phone is pretty cool, ensuring that you get the best deal on offer. Thanks to mobile devices, the way we shop has started to change. Customers can now price check even while they are perusing wares in a store, which is kind of amazing really.
This shopping season, you might also want to consider shopping from alternative retailers, like the ones regrouped under the Etsy banner, or others like this. As we mentioned last week, there are bunch of tech accessories that you can get from these new retailers. I always find it satisfying when I buy something from one of these retailers. It takes the money away from the big companies and puts it into the hands of the creators and makers.
