Pottery Barn's New Catalogue Review

Pottery Barn's New Catalogue Review

Jan 9, 2006

Pottery Barn has put out their catalogue for the New Year, and changed up their stores to reflect the new color palette (which seem to be tones of pea green and soft blues). It is always a joy to check out places after the Christmas chaos is over and the sales items have been relegated to the back of the store. There is a light, lovely feel to things, but to be honest, with gun to head we wouldn't be able to tell the difference between this year and last.

There is a new Farmhouse collection that is simple and clean-lined, but looks like nothing new. Ticking is back(it's the first thing you see when you walk in the store) and while the fabric and pattern is a classic, it hit so hard the last few years it seems funny to see it all over the store from pillows to drapes representing "now".

The one thing that hit us as good were a new lamp shade color (called "green"), but it's not in the catalogue or online yet so you have to go to a store to see it. A real surprise was the catalogue's Small Spaces section (now where have we seen that before?…)

The catalogue is filled with scaled down pieces like the Barrington Sectional in Twill,(which is a nice shape) and every page has little tips for better living in smaller spaces: finding multi purpose furniture… glass top tables to create the illusion of more space…built in storage…

All of the information is legit enough, it just feels a little "jumping on the band wagon" to us but then again, maybe that's what PB is... damn band wagon jumpers!
