What great splashes of color! Love having something small like these for extra seating or to kick your feet up! I had one that looked an awful lot like #9 and I added a slip cover to it to make it more cohesive with my living room. Check out how I did that over here at http://temporary-nest.blogspot.com/2010/03/cover-it-up.html
Looky, looky what I found on Etsy- hand knit poufs in a rainbow of colors!

As someone who hoards fabric, I thought that one day I'd make my own pouf. Here is the pattern I had bookmarked:

or you can buy a pattern here: http://www.amybutlerdesign.com/products/patterns_display.php?id=31
So I keep my eyes out on Ebay. They have a few people sending over poufs from Egypt and Morocco and they start at $30 $15 shipping. They are patterned and colorful, but I kinda like that. One of these days when I find myself with another 50-100 bucks to spend...I think I am going to buy 'em.
i cannot bring myself to spend more on a glorified pillow than most of my furniture.
i will stick to diy poufs when i have the time.
i love the look of ottoman poufs <3
joyatri - seriously GREAT link.
Haha. I studied in Morocco for a while and at the end of my trip backpacked around and purchased gifts for the fam. I got home and opened up my backpack at the end of my trip and almost passed out from the smell of poorly tanned leather (dead animal smell, yep!). My brother who took on the otherwise awesome orange pouf let it bake in the sun for days before it was okay to take inside. There was lots of good leather there, but also pretty bad stuff, so you might want to sample the goods before you decide to buy cheap poofs online sight unseen.....
An Arrested Development quote always wins...
i would like to reply to Lotusmoss who exaggerated about the smell of Moroccan poufs.... The poufs are handprocessed and were produced in a most eco-friendly way using natural resources. First, the hides are recycled; they are tanned naturally by using vegetable dies and artisans use the sun light to dry them...The smell is of 100% genuine leather that been processed naturally; and the smell goes away over time... I have few poufs that I purchased from www.moroccanprestige.com for my child's room, and after having them for few months, they don't smell at all..... I recommend them.. and I appreciate how they are made and definitely support who makes them and any arisan's work.
Check www.moroccanprestige.com for a large selection of poufs in different colors and styles... High end quality and the prices are reasonable.

Here's another pattern for a crochet pouf.

Sarah! Great work! I am of the Arne Quinze school of joyous 'poufs'! Both water proof-y and spongey. Your posts are strong. I spent some time up there on them summer islands. Your writing & point of view took me to a bright, simpler place but faster! Write more but about other disciplines. You have a great eye!
I got one of my daughters a silver one from

looks great but need to assemble...next project
I've been searching for weeks on AT with no luck. I'd come across a pouf that was made of many layers of wedge shaped pieces in great colors that looked like a large flower. Anyone know what I'm talking about? I'd love to save that photo to try making it later...should have saved it when I saw it.
If you're slightly crafty, you can easily make one of these using Amy Butler's Gum Drop Pillow pattern.
