I've noticed a few of my stylish mom friends with young kids have—gasp!—white sofas. However, they've mitigated the risk of dirt and stains by putting blankets on the seat and/or back. Not only are blankets ideal for guarding against mess from kids or pets, they allow you to quickly change up the look, hide or camouflage a sofa that is worn or that you don't like, give off a carefree Bohemian vibe, and are Soul Glo-friendly.

Below are a dozen examples, in real homes, of blankets and coverings on sofas, and not just white sofas. If you've adopted this decorating strategy in your home - tell us why: you like the look, you like to change it up, you're a slob?
