Good timing- I was just thinking about this after the first (kinda, not really) real snow in Chicago! These are much better than what I've been finding.

I use a black rectangular plastic tray purchased at the hardware store (I think meant for plants). not fancy, but inexpensive.
I usually just use paper grocery bags laid down on the floor. Or a piece of a cardboard box. I guess that's less pretty though.
I've heard the metal ones sometimes leak. I have the herringbone one from Crate and Barrel and it works really well.
