Though the month is young, we've already seen some stunning examples of beautifully set tables to inspire the host in all of us. We have to acknowledge though, that not every party is an intimate dinner that calls for our best china and glassware; sometimes we're entertaining 20 friends with ribs and football, or 50 friends at a holiday drop-in. For those occasions when our best just won't do, we were delighted to find an eco-friendly option from Preserve...
Preserve's On the Go Tableware is a line of dishwasher-safe, lightweight plastic cutlery, cups, and plates designed to withstand hundreds of uses without cracking or breaking. Made in the USA of 100% recycled #5 plastic, and available in apple green and midnight blue, this tableware is also 100% recyclable, and BPA and melamine free.
When the tableware eventually begins to fail, you can take it to any Whole Foods Market store or mail it directly to Preserve to be recycled. Reasonably priced and environmentally friendly, Preserve On the Go Tableware is the perfect choice for picnics, tailgating, holiday buffets and more. We'll certainly be picking up some to get us through this season of sports and celebrations.

The problem that I see with this is that it appears to be plain old disposable plastic plates, forks, etc - so most people are just gonna toss it in the trash anyway.
Just because it's recyclable doesn't make it green.
you know what's way better? ecotainers! they're made from corn & sugarcane fibers and are completely compostable. we use them at my work (a local natural market, like a baby version of a Whole Foods).
i did a quick search and found you could get them at greenpartysupply.com.
Go to a thrift store, buy enough dishes, glasses, and silverware for your party, then redonate everything afterwards.
