This isn't your grandmother's printer
...well it could be. Presto.com
is a new service and printing device catering to the less-technologically inclined. Much the like the old e-mail machines purchased for grandparents, Presto allows you to email photos or messages to someone without a computer in their home.
After purchasing a HP Printer Mailbox for around $150 (as well as paying a monthly fee for the service), grandma is able to receive emails sent to Presto and they are printed out for her. Confused yet? It's basically a re-purposed fax machine.
However, for those without computers it would be a great way to share digital photos. Presto has this functionality in mind with its "styles" feature, which are templates that allow you to customize how your email is printed on the other end. When you've forgotten to send grandma her birthday card, this could be the next best thing.
Definitely a single-use device, but if you have a loved one disconnected from the net it could make staying in touch a bit easier and lots more fun.
