Even if you aren't planning a full-out Valentine's bash, these hanging globes made from simple paper plates look great and only cost a few pennies to make: perfect for any party in your future!
As much as we love big tissue paper pom-poms, they can end up running a dollar or two per pom (unless you order 5,000 sheets of the same color in bulk) and although that's nothing major, once you start talking about making 20-30 of them for a party, then you're suddenly in the $30-$60 range just for pom poms!
Paper plates on the other hand - well those are only a few dollars for a few thousand plates. With the help of a little glue and potentially some spray paint to give them color, you can make these globes for literal pennies. Plus — you can make them any size you want.
The secret is bending the sides of the plate down so a triangle forms in the middle, then glue the flaps together — simple as that. Check out more on this table design over at Hostess With the Mostess.

I LOVE "hostess with the mostess" and all the ideas for the rest of the theme are awesome (check out the link, there is some super cute stuff going on there). But I'm just not feeling these paper plate globes. Even after they're made into globes, they still look too much like... well, paper plates. Not fancy enough, especially with the rest of the gorgeous decorations in this post. Very creative though. :)
