Remember the DIY pretty step stool we featured back in January? What a great way to perk up a bathroom.
Check out this step stool makeover featured over at Prudent Baby. We're loving the faux bois paper (from the Martha Stewart line at Michaels). The little deer is cut from white paper and Mod Podged over the faux bois paper. This makes for a big impact in any bathroom.

I love these updates. We have the same stool and I noticed that it was sticking to our painted bathroom cabinets (when pushed up against them) so I took some double-sided tape and some bright patterned ribbon that was the same thickness as the rim and encircled the top of the stool. Perked it up and is functional as a a buffer.
Now, I might have to add a design on top as well. Really cool. :)
I have been painting custom foot stools for my client' kids for over 23 years. It never ceases to amaze me the number of uses children and adults find for them. Just that extra few inches makes all the difference in doing a task or putting stuff away. I make them for baby gifts with birth announcements painted on the top replicated from the actual card. Also painting the wallpaper or border design from the nursery and matching to the colors is a fun way to add a practical piece of furniture.
I just love faux bois so much. I'm going to have to stop by Michael's on my way home from work to see if I can get some of this paper. I know I'll use it for something!
I found Faux Bois contact paper at Daiso (aka the 100 Yen store) - check it out if you're in Los Angeles, Seattle, or Vancouver. Or Japan.
