Okay, so when we hear the phrase "private library and writing studio," our quiet little rational heart suddenly bursts open and and sings a longing, wistful ballad. Oh, the things we could do if we were only given a little creative space! True, we are being a bit facetious, but there's no denying that we dream of having an artistic getaway... maybe even this one! (Um, call us if you need a house sitter.) Designed by NYC-based design architect Andrew Berman, this small building is located on Long Island about two hours east of New York City. It was commissioned by a critic and historian, and sits on the cusp of an open field and wood. Jump below for a video...

The interior is covered in douglas fir, with lots of shelving for books and plenty of light. The copper exterior changes in form and color as the light changes throughout the day and through the season.
