Architect: Ike Kligerman Barkley Architects P.C
Location: Tribeca — New York, New York
The images of this amazing loft speak for themselves…
Located in the heart of Manhattan's Tribeca district, this space was originally a bare fifty-by-eighty foot box. The designers took cues from the vernacular styles found in the neighborhood and used these industrial and modern elements to reinvent the space. The steel columns of the original structure created a natural grid, which the designers relaxed by using sliding panels and long bookshelves to connect the separate spaces. The result of this strategic design was a bright and livable loft unit.

White Enamel Flatwa...
I hope they never move... can you imagine packing and unpacking all those books?!
It does make for a very visually textural wall... oh to have all of those books!
I've moved that many books numerous times...but I'm sure the owner of this loft can afford someone else to do that!
This space is gorgeous but I can't help thinking it feels too much like a commercial, not residential space.
I'm a book lover but when I see walls of books, all I can think about is how much dust is probably in there.
I kind of want to color-code them all! is that wrong?
wall of books = gorgeous
windows = amazing
seating area = really lovely
dining area = classy
I can't imagine where the bedroom is in relation to the living/dining area, though.
@amberart-- yes!
I know... I want to do it for a day... :) I'd get sick of it in an instant!
I see dust in those rafters too.
Hi all, this was my loft from 2000-2005. I can assure you that the books were perfectly dustless, I was obsessed! And we've moved them twice since, overseas. Sorry about the non-color-coding: they're alphabetized by author. It was a LOVELY place to live, thanks to our brilliant architect Joel Barkley.
I've drooled over this since I first saw it on flickr yrs back...I'll always love it (especially the non color coding, hehe)
That kitchen has been beautifully designed (from an aesthetic point of view, at any rate), and I like the solution to the problem of a pillar in the middle of the area rug.
Love this place, the colour scheme is really well done, you really bring the wooden tones in connection with white, some glossy dark accents and grey/mauve.
Just gorgeous, jaystreet.
The space is nice. I like the books. Kitchen is great. Loved the long dining table and the chairs. Liked the wooden bench front of the window. Rest of the decor was too dull and there was too little of it for my taste.
nice combination of materials.
