When cement tiles turned out too pricey for designers Karen and Guy Vidal at their East Hollywood apartment complex, they decided to create an outdoor "carpet" on a budget — using stencil and paint.
The couple wanted to transform the concrete patio of the building they owned without committing to anything too permanent. Using a Moroccan-style stencil and deck paint, they finished the project for only a few hundred dollars. Best of all, they can simply repaint the patio if they ever tire of the look.
Check out how they did it on the Los Angeles Times blog.
