Silva Ltd's founder and designer, Justin, grew up in Central Oregon. Two of his loves are woodworking and Apple products. He decided to combine those interests and came up with the Silva Ltd Bamboo Macbook Case.
The amount of attention to craftsmanship is impressive. Justin uses a CNC machine to meet the exact specifications of the Mac, then hand glues, sands, felts and finishes each case. Each leather handle is hand cut and shaped to have a great feel when carried, rather than slung over a shoulder or half-hidden under your arm. If a laptop case could ever be considered heirloom quality, this would be it. Its only downfall is that the case will probably outlast the useful life of your Macbook!
Being made of wood, you'd think that it would be heavy...but it weighs just over 2 pounds and comes in two sizes (13" and 15") and costs $179.99.
