Do you ever find yourself wishing you could capture the sounds of the moment on your iPod? Whether you want to record your child's first words for posterity or your friends' karaoke performances for future blackmail, the ProTrack from Alesis allows you to record stereo audio directly (and easily) to your iPod.

Using the onboard pair of cardioid condenser microphones, the Alesis ProTrack allows you to record detailed, 16-bit, 44.1kHz or 22kHz stereo digital audio without connecting any additional equipment. The on-board mics are fixed in XY configuration for optimal stereo imaging. ProTrack also has a pair of combo XLR-1/4" inputs to facilitate connections to professional sound sources (including condenser and dynamic microphones and mixer outputs). ProTrack automatically dates and time-stamps files, and the switchable limiter ensures that recordings are distortion-free.

The ProTrack has LED-level metering for instant visual indication, even in the dark, and recordings can be monitored or played back on the 1/8" stereo-headphone output. The unit runs on four AAA batteries or AC power using the included adapter, and a 1/4"-20 threaded mounting point enables you to mount ProTrack on a mic stand (with the optional adapter), on a table (with the optional tripod table stand), or on a camera tripod for hands-free tracking.
