Logan Square foodies got to go local this past February when Tracy Kellner opened Provenance Food and Wine on California.
It is a grocery and wine shop with a focus on eating and drinking well everyday. Affordable wines (most between 10. and 25.), Red Hen bread, artisanal cheeses and nice chocolates are available - really, what more do you need?
Ok, maybe some meat and fish, pasta, olives; they are available as well. Provenance calls itself an "everyday market" on their site. Kellner also includes a handy list of nearby BYOB restaurants where you can enjoy your Provenance wine purchase.
Free wine tastings are held Saturdays from 3 - 5 pm. A full range of classes and events are held regularly, such as these scheduled for the next few weeks:
"International Flavors Week"
Sample wines and other delicacies from around the world; events are each evening during this week from 6p-8p (exception: Saturday's event will run from 3p- 6p).
This week's events are complimentary!
"Fall Soups and Salads Class"
As the weather gets cooler, warm up with some wonderful Fall soups and salads! In this class, we'll make our own curry dressing, learn the basics of soup-making, and talk about what produce is best this time of year.
