Depending on how much space you've got for your home office, you might want to try this non-traditional approach to your home workspace, as it can be used for a variety of purposes. Jennifer's home office can also double as a craft room, thanks to that giant IKEA Galant desk and ample storage.
You could easily use a laptop on that desk and have meetings and discussions with friends and clients. The LCD panel is securely fixed to the wall, surrounded by IKEA Expedit shelving, which was hacked so that it would be lifted off the floor. These shelves could also be used to house a desktop computer, something like an iMac. Jennifer explains that her the furniture legs for the shelves were bought at Home Depot. The idea was to make the shelves look more like furniture. We think that it works well. In total, there are two Expedits arranged vertically, and one horizontally. The Galant desk was hacked with a glass top, which was ordered from a local company. It definitely adds class to this home office. Jennifer also uses IKEA Egil stools. If you tend to have meetings and meet customers in your home office, we think that what Jennifer has done is perfect. This also means that the home office can be used for other purposes, like studying, reading, or hanging out. [via Ikeahacker, photos by Jennifer]
