There's something about summer that brings out the silly in us. Which is why we're jonesing for this puppy sculpture ottoman from CB2.
Designed by Eero Aarnio, it reminds us of the Jeff Koons Balloon Dog that's dominating museums from coast to coast (atop the Metropolitan Museum in NY; at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago; grabbing the attention in the main room at the Broad Contemporary at LACMA). In the winter, we'll bring it indoors to add a note of kitsch and amuse the child visitors in our life. We know of one colleague's home where it would fit right in.

Ha, I was ready to get angry of the blatant knockoff, but it is the original... in CB2? How odd!
I have 2 of these! A large white and a small orange. I love them...and we don't have kids!
Every now and then CB2 has originals. Without advertising them as such. About a year ago I picked up a set of barstools only to learn they were a well-known brand for non-well-known brand prices.
The first time I saw these @ the Soho location I hated them and they inspired this sort of irrational anger in me. Um, nothing has changed sine then. Still hate em' with unwavering passion.
blah.

OK, enjoy!
Uh, they are not all that same puppy. Number 8 is the last one with the same shape.
There is nothing enjoyable about Number 6. It makes me very sad. Just stop at Number 8. Or skip Number 6. I know that people eat dogs for food. But I didn't want to see it.
The effect of seeing things like that, though, caused me to reduce my meat consumption dramatically, years ago. I'm not a vegan or vegetarian. But I do not eat much meat. I think I bought meat at the store last year maybe 5 times? And have pizza every now and then (a few times a year). More likely to grab a hamburger from BK maybe once a month.
I'm really into the soy milk. And nuts. Dried fruits. Cereals. Raw fruit and veggies.
Anyway, I thought I'd better warn folks. It was kind of a shock to me to see that, and rather than having everyone else go into shock too, I'd rather warn you. Because it LOOKS like those titles will all relate to the same exhibit, right?
And if YOU had gone searching, you might have found those images too. And been just as surprised or saddened or shocked.
i saw this in the store about a month ago, i couldn't figure out who would want it. doesn't fit in our place at least...
True Blue--so what's your point? Artist should try to avoid upsetting people?
Palmetto, the point was that the images on Number 6 blog were NOT related to the Puppy and that some people (me for one) might find them upsetting. They are not art-related.
True blue Andree.
Yes? And...?
Love mine and Isabella loves it even more. It's art after all.
he's know to be peeking at odd places, but he's quiet and cleans after himself, so no accidents.... and he won't chew on my eames chairs!
