Okay, design world. You continue to impress me with the beautiful things you are able to do with the worst of all colors - purple. In keeping with Colorful Homes month at Apartment Therapy, here's a follow-up to the original and part 2 of this post where I continue to seek out rooms in purple that I don't hate.
This newest batch of photos features a lot of pink alongside its purple, which makes the statement that the color selections are purposely girly and over-the-top, aiming for a fun look. Another trend that is arriving alongside purple is the clustering of decorative objects. Purple seems to work well when there are other bright accents around it, graying it out a bit and removing some of the focus on its intensity.
Are you feeling purple yet?

the sidebar ad is overlapping all the pics.
I just moved out of my parents' home where I was living while attending college and my room was purple. Purple walls with black and white stuff. I just moved into an old apartment and the bedroom walls looked kinda nice in the light tan color so I left them, thinking I'd buy some colorful wall decor. These pics are really making me miss my purple!
Lady J, I had the same problem-- try refreshing the page.
Does anyone know where that coffee table (white top, gold legs) is from in the decor pad #1 image?
Yeah AT really needs to do something about these popups, with no clear way to get rid of them, covering the content. This seems to be happening a lot lately. I've refreshed several times and it keeps coming back!
Also, you clearly need to rethink your theory that purple is the worst color =)
Ah, purple. I love you so.
I'm really digging that third photo - the hot pink is great with that dark, grey purple wall.
There are no bad colors - just inappropriate applications of color.
Even the worst fleshtone on a wall looks appetizing when it's the color of a butternut squash and perfectly delightful as a piece of handmade pottery.
WHERE is that rug from in the featured photo????
Any color can look amazing. It's all in how you use it! I think purple is one of those great colors that allows other colors to pop. Yellow, pink, orange, red, green, nude colors.....All great with purple.
I still don't like any of those photos but the third and last one.
1 & 9.
I like bluish purples more than pinkish purples.
These are not bad rooms. I like them. I would just like them SO. MUCH. MORE. if they weren't purple.
I painted my bedroom lilac/mauve as a kid (similar to #1). I hated it within a month but wasn't allowed to change the colour again for two years. purple has never been the same for me.
However, that wall colour in #3 blows my freaking mind. I love the drama!
Hmm i really wanted to see this post but an ad popped up right over it and didn't have a box to close it. Heads up whoever decides the ads for this site. It was REALLY annoying.
Love number 6. That mirror is gorgeous.
