Purple is a big color in fashion for the fall, so naturally, all the big shelter stores are producing new items in its various shades. Unfortunately for me, I just don't get purple, and I've discovered that I am not the only one. So, in a quest for personal growth, I sought out some purple items for the home that actually look great.

We have dark, dark purple drapes in the bedroom. You don't notice that they're even purple after a while. And they do a really great job of keeping out the light.
I get purple. Purple is awesome.
How could anyone hate purple? Every room needs at least a bit of it--or more. My guest room in my last house was a rich grape color and my dining room now is a dull purple-brown. Almost everything looks good with purple!
what about the classic purple velvet blazer?....especially on old british guys? have to admit that it makes a statement.
Nope, still hate most shades of purple (for decor). A deep aubergine, eggplant or dark violet is alright with me, so the last picture was the only example I liked. I find pastel and medium purples to be too girly and blah for me.

Purple is great - It works so well with white, taupe and gold/brass.
I love those Purple Velvet draperies too...
...but if you want some, you'll have to have them custom-made since that color is sold out from PB.
A dark purple and gray paired together is my new favorite color combination.
Purple is a strong color, and a little goes a long way. Aubergine or eggplant is easier to live with, but still only as an accent.

However, I have higher priorities than incorporating purple into my decor. Yet, my design dreams for my hopeless kitchen involve dove gray and ... lavender.
I was in the Ligne Roset showroom down on Wooster St. in NYC a few weeks ago and they had several vignettes with charcoal and lilac with furniture in nickel, glass and white lacquer. While not my taste, it was very handsome. They used just a little of the lilac, but it went a long way.
haha, I totally agree with you Annie! I am very limited in the purple that I can stand...lavender makes me want to puke! Some nice choices here though for sure.
My home office is lavender and it really is a nice neutral background...as well as bringing out any reddish tones in woods. Love it.
Oh, I totally despise purple in all shades and forms! Out of everything posted, I could only handle the goldfish coasters. Everything else is way to purple for me.

I have been pouring over paint chips, trying to find a non-horrendous color to go with my standard-issue rental home off-white walls. I gawked in horror when I realized that my walls were tinted with just enough of a peach tone to make purple the only color that would go with them, without repainting the entire house.
Maybe... just maybe... I can reach deep within my soul to find the strength work with the limitations of my off-white walls and embrace the purple. Your post has decidedly helped me in that cause.
That tints table gets a big hell naw for that price tag.
