As LED lights are starting to become prevalent, thanks to the fact that they are getting more energy efficient than CFLs, we're finding some interesting lighting solutions from all sorts of companies. These lights were created by the Taiwanese company QisDesign, and they look quite fetching, especially the table lamp that folds completely flat.
While initially we were intrigued by the folding flat BE Light from QisDesign, we quickly realized that this wasn't their sole LED lighting product. In fact, all of the lights that the Taiwanese company produces are LED lights, and they include table, floor, and suspension lamps.
The BE Light was inspired by how a paper can be folded completely flat. This LED desk lamp has some hinges that will allow you to collapse it. The light comes with a counterweight, which allows it to remain completely firm while the flexible arm can be extended to suit your needs. The lamp is made out of aluminum. When it's not in use, you can fold it down to a height of 2/3 of an inch. The LEDs use a filter that distributes the light evenly and eliminates glare.
The Seagull series of lights uses the aluminum wings as a way to light up. It's an interesting use of wings, which double as the head of the lamp. It comes in a table lamp, suspension lamp, and floor lamp. The Piano Light uses LED strips to mimic the form of the instrument. It's a good play on the concept of a piano.
QisDesign also makes a few decorative lights, which are unique. There are a few different stores that carry these light fixtures in the US. You can find the full list here. Prices vary from $360 to $1,500.
