For those of you who haven't heard of one of the best freebies floating around the internet today, it's about time we put you in the know. OpenOffice is a Microsoft Office alternative made by Sun Microsystems and supports everything that you'll ever need to do. The biggest difference? it won't cost you a dime.

This newest version 3 now supports OSX's native aqua skin, gives you the ability to open Office 2007 files, and provides PDF creation powers. That's right, *.docx XML-type extensions shall never plague and confuse you ever again! Unfortunately, you can only save in the older *.doc format, but still, the ability to open all types of documents is very much welcome.

OpenOffice 3 runs on all major computing platforms - Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux, Sun Solaris, OSX.

So, what are you waiting for? Grab the latest version from their official website here.
