Please go to our new link for Quality Tile.
We have heard that Quality Tile is THE place to purchase tile at a steep discount. It's not only cheaper than the boutiques on 5th avenue, it's also cheaper than Home Depot.
They'll quote prices on the phone as long as you know exactly what you want, preferably with manufacturer's name and item number, but it's worth the trip up there to see what you can find.
Matt says: Great recommendation! I made the trip up from Manhattan yesterday. They seemed understaffed and slightly disorganized, but the people I talked to were friendly, helpful, and willing to negotiate on price. They even offer free delivery if the order is big enough.
Quality Tile sells ceramic, tile marble and granite, so if you want to cut down the cost of redoing your bathroom or kitchen or WHATEVER, check them out. They stock many companies, and if they don't have it, they say they will get it for you.

Unfortunately I have to agree with the many posts on this site telling you to stay away from Quality Tile, especially if you are a little guy. Aside from the chaos and difficulty getting assistance when you walk in, the owner (or is he just the manager), Anthony, could care less about customer satisfication.
When my order (admitedly small) was repeatedly not shipped by the vendor (promised every week for a month and never delivered) my entire renovation schedule and schedule of my contractor were compromised. I do believe the office manager did all she could to work with the vendor and even pursue a discount when I asked but when the vendor refused to cooperate I tried to take my discount request to Anthony expecting prudent customer service would dictate he give me the discount and work it out with the vendor. Without any facts, he got on the phone and jumped down my throat before I could get a word in. He told me my order was too small to get aggravated over, his profit was too small to discount further (you would think if it was that small he would just give it up in the name of customer service) and that I was being completely unreasonable. When I did finally get a chance to speak and tried to be clear that I was just asking for some consideration as a customer he told me to forget about it, he was canceling my order, I could bad mouth him to whomever I want, and he hung up on me. I had to call the office manager to make sure my order was not canceled since it was finally due in the next day (I should add she even apologized for her boss).
I am sucking this one up, but taking Anthony's suggestion on spreading the word. It is your choice, but if customer service matters to you stay away, because here the problem starts at the top.
As a follow-up to my earlier post while shopping for another purchase I found the same tile at Sam's ceramics in Westchester and it was less expensive than Quality Tile. Obviously, customer service was also far superior.
this is the WORST place to do business. phone service is horrible -- phones are answered by young girls who have no power, no resources, no people / sales skills. they tell you the tile is in stock. they promise to call back with the price. they never call. you schlepp an hour to get there and the tile is NOT in stock. you wait at least half an hour before you get any service. you order the tile and they tell you it will be in several days later at 3pm and they will call. they never call. you call the next day to find the order was never shipped. they can't do anything about it b/c the salesman is out for half the day. the experience just get worse and worse. it's quite unbelievable that anybody can stay in business at this rate. go somewhere else. it's not worth the stress b/c i promise you, they WILL rile you up.
