Summer is in full swing and we're still searching for little ways to make it as memorable as possible. We love simple ideas that yield a large impact and we think these colored ice cubes do just that!
They're ridiculously joyful and would make any party, picnic or even evening on the back porch something special without a high cost or need for supplies.
These ice cubes were made by simply adding a few drops of food coloring to an ice cube tray and then filling. Head to your local big box retailer and you can usually pick up a pack of 5 for just a few dollars (if you don't already have some on hand). Make one tray for each color and let the good times roll when they're frozen and ready to go.
If you're looking for an adult cocktail to accompany these fun cubes, you can check out our list over at The Kitchn or from Camper English who made the drink you see above (which isn't as kid friendly as it appears at first glance!).

Nomade Express Slee...
When they melt, does your drink turn into that same dark gray-olive color as the rinse cup from kids' watercolor paints?
Beautiful! Kids could also do all sorts of experiments during the summer with those cubes, which would be a cool way to keep them busy, engaged, and it will actually help them when performing science experiments and art. Another cool way to do that is listed in this article, which gives a recipe for doing something similar with gelatin. http://tiny.cc/c79kq you can see by the pictures how much the kids at this fair are enjoying the project.
this is cute! I like this idea and it's guaranteed to astonish small children. Color can add some great dimension!
