Good Questions: To Paint or Not to Paint Dining Chairs?
Hi AT, I wrote in a while ago asking whether or not to paint our dining room chairs (above). Well, I took the advice of many and did not paint them, and realized that it was the table that was the problem! It clashed horribly with our floors too, so it had to go...

We replaced it with this cute antique, rustic round table we found for just $40 on CL. I'm really happy with how the chairs look with the table now, and the space feels so much better with a round table than a rectangular one. I also took some people's advice and moved our bookshelves, which look much happier on the other side of the room. Thanks, everyone! Cassie

love it!
Your colors are perfect.
Heh, I have the same table as the "before" photo. And the same color floor. It's been driving me nuts. I think I'll keep it for now, though.
Much better - Good Job!
love it and love that room
I like it, but couldn't you just have painted the old table white? I think that would have looked great given the remainder of your room and the multi-colored chairs.
great job. glad you kept the chairs as they were. The accessories on the mantel are more interesting now too (although I also enjoyed the simple look you were going for previously as well). I think everyone steered you well regarding the bookcase move. Thanks for the update!
great job! Love the fireplace and mirror
good choice! isn't it funny how sometimes we think it's the color but it's really the shape or arragement?
Nice choice it looks great :)
You don't get how it interacts, even in the head-on shot where the round table, fireplace arch, and round mirror all carry on a pretty intimate conversation?
I actually think the new table makes the chairs the odd ones out, but that will also be determined by what happens in adjoining spaces.
wonderful!
it looks beautiful! i love the new table.
what is the name of the paint on the walls.. it looks great!
what color paint is on your walls?
I would also like to know what paint is on your wall?!
That table is beautiful, what a steal!
Hurray for follow-up post!!!
I love using a round table in a room that has traffic flow. Love your new table!
are those billy bookcases?
Wonderful improvement, and the table is gorgeous! And it blends so naturally with the chairs.
Very smart! I like the round table very much...seems to fit the room better. I'm glad you didn't paint the chairs, and now they look great around the new table. Good choice!
Very nice.
Um… I really want those 2 thin lamps that are on the mantel in the before picture. Where did those come from???
Hey guys, that's my dining area!
Thanks everyone! I have NO idea what the color on the walls is called. We rent, and they were this color when we moved in.
Patrick(theotherone) and luckypeach- If you could see the chairs and table in person, you would see how well the grains match, like the chairs and the table were cut from the same tree, it's awesome.
Oh, caryn, we're cheap, those lamps are totally from Ikea!
I love the new little table, it so cute, and what a deal!
Craaigslist is awesome, I always find exactly what I need, even when I don't know what that is yet.
The round table is a huge improvement! (And I liked the old one, too)
i love the round table; it's so stately and quiet! excellent choice. i don't think i would have spotted that myself.
