While at a friend's house this week, we couldn't help but be envious of all the gorgeous plants and flowers throughout their home. Spring is in full swing here in Austin, and the house had such a fresh feeling with all the live plants everywhere. For those who don't possess such a talented green thumb, what's the next best solution? Weigh in for yourself after the jump!
We understand that succulents can be easier to care for than other indoor plants, but for some, even a cactus is hard to keep alive. So what are the alternatives? Fake plants and flowers? No indoor plants at all? Keeping fresh cut flowers only? Let us know what works for your home, if you've found any amazing plants that anyone could care for or any resources for realistic looking fake plants!

No green thumb here, so I stick with some easy green plants (sanseveria, spider plants) and fake flowers (I love the vintage ones) to bring colour in my house (and balcony), and occasionally get some fresh cut flowers for I like to see the process of blooming and decay. And I love to walk in the park and watch the season thing.
Never fake plants!
According to HGTV, that is the #1 faux-pas of home decor. They are rubber, they do nothing but collect dust, and overall they're pretty much counter-productive to any use for home plants.
I say go with freshly-cut flowers, or go with nothing.
Well, if you were really trying to keep those succulents alive, you should put them in the sun...
(Yes, I figure they're just for illustrating the point but I had to tease.)
A plug for houseplants: unless you live in the dark, there's going to be something you can grow. It's a myth that people with green thumbs never kill plants. I, for one, kill a lot of plants. I just keep trying.
If you really think you can't grow anything, there are natural alternatives to fake plants. Dried arrangements along the lines of bamboo, twigs, twisted willow, lotus pods etc. can be quite mod.
