Good Question: What to Do with this Old Antenna?

With the switch from analog to digital TV, there will be plenty of antennas headed for the landfills. I actually found this in the corner of my yard, mangled and overgrown with brush but the question remains: What can I do with this heap of aluminum and plastic?

This section, pictured above, might make a good trellis for some beans or perhaps a ladder into a chicken coop hen house (another one of my green dreams).

We had one on our house when we bought it. We took it apart and put it in the recycling bin.

We have several (don't ask) and found out that the guy we sell our cans to will also buy them.

Since you're looking for ideas, I'll scrap the 'recycle' comment, two that come to mind:

* use sections as a trellis to grow tomatoes or morning glories in your garden (by the time the plant fills in the original use for the trellis, an antenna, will no longer be visible). If you have broken sections, or pieces, you can lash them together with twine and they'll last a season or two in the garden depending on your weather.

* take the 'spokes' apart and make a sunray / sunburst mirror
