Happy Leap Day! As February 29th only comes around once every 4 years, we're wondering if you're celebrating (Frog Party?) or doing anything special today? Here are some suggestions for enjoying the extra time and completing small projects to use the day wisely.
Ways to Embrace the "Extra" Time Today:
1. Spend one hour today upgrading your bathroom by installing towel hooks, adding flowers and more quick bathroom ideas;
2. Take a walk with your significant other, family or pet (take your dog on an extra-long walk!);
3. Join Pinterest and start an inspiration board;
4. Call a friend or family member you've been missing;
5. Do a little bit of work towards finishing a project;
6. Find a new project you'd like to try yourself and start planning;
7. Find an item or two at home that you can donate, give to a friend or bring to work.
8. Tell us what your plans are for today!

If aliens read this, they'd probably think we all get the day off but unfortunately, I am working and I have no time for those things...boooo..=(
Such a hysterical photo, I had to check Wikipedia to understand this post. I'd never heard of the tradition of women proposing marriage on leap day. What a funny custom. It reminds me of Sadie Hawkins Day.
Leap years do not happen every 4 years, they happen in years divisible by 4, in the Gregorian calendar. It just happens that it's often 4 years apart.
I am going to finally file my huge stack of papers tonight when I get home from work!
@EBARRETT3
The leap year occurs because there are actually 364.25 days per year according to the Gregorian Calendar, so every four years an extra day is added to account for that extra day: really .25 * 4.
Saying that a leap year doesn't happen every 4 years, but happens in years divisible by 4 is wrong. Every fourth year, there is a year that is evenly divisible by 4 - the rules of multiplication tell us that it's not OFTEN four years apart, it's ALWAYS 4 years apart.
@Asokks00 It's divisible by 4, and not by 100 unless it's also divisible by 400. So 2100 would not be a leap year even though it's 4 years after the last leap year. This is because the duration of a solar year is slightly less than 365.25 days
It's my birthday! My 11th birthday.
I just discovered that there is a Leap Year cocktail (created in 1928 at the London Savoy) so I'm going to see if I can get a bartender to make me one.
Does that count as finding a new project?
I'm still planning on proposing... somebody say a prayer for me....
Happy birthday leapkate!
Thanks, Melissa_B!
Alas, the "Leap Year cocktail" which a friendly bartender made for me, was not all that great. Sure, I'll have one every four years, but it's not my new drink of choice....
well, I'm doing it. I'm gonna have white floors in every dark room of my dark house. I'm probably not going to paint what's here b/c it's all in terrible shape. I'm probably going to go with new pickled wood or linoleum. white floors don't *get* dirty faster, dirt just shows quicker. no doubt my floors are slightly dirty all the time. big deal, so are everyone else's. I just can't get my panties in a twist about something as trivial as not having immaculate floors. I liked Melissa McCarthy's answer to a question about her weight: she tries to be healthy but she is too busy living her life to obsess over her weight or solely focus on it. same thing with the perfectly clean floor.
oh, heavens to betsy. I got on the wrong tab somehow. sorry all.
