Most of the country is melting from insufferable heat and parents are quickly scrounging for indoor activities. While kids get down with their popsicles and board games, it's time to take advantage of those strong rays and give your mattress a boost while you have the chance.

The sun acts like a natural bleach and all sorts of things in your home can benefit from this treatment. It's easy to do: literally just drag your mattress outside and let the sun shine down on it. Make sure it's not under a tree where it might get sap, leaves, bird droppings or anything of the sort on it. After an hour, flip it and repeat.

If you want to go the extra mile you can give it a light spritz with white vinegar, but it's not needed. It's a great way to keep things smelling fresh that can't be tossed in the washing machine and have them last a bit longer to boot. Take advantage of Mother Nature and let her do some of the dirty work this week!
