Most moms I know passed on their body or pregnancy pillow to a friend as soon as their baby was born because those things take up a lot of room. But here's one reason to maybe hold onto yours: a mom recently told me that she used her body pillow as a bumper in her son's twin bed until he adjusted to not sleeping with guard rails.

After awhile she then moved it onto the floor next to the bed so in case he did fall out of bed (he did, she reports!), he at least had a soft landing.

This may not be a great idea for a very young child (due to suffocation risks), but seems like a smart idea for an older child, perhaps a pre-schooler moving from a toddler bed with guard rails into his or her first rail-less bed.
