A friend of ours just turned us on to Quilt Home, an online fabric source. Sure, they carry a lot of the same designers that you'll find at Purl Soho and Repro Depot (two of our longstanding favorite fabric sources), but you'll also find some lesser known fabrics and designers at Quilt Home. But best of all...
Quilt Home has a snazzy feature that creates a sidebar column of all the fabrics you place in your virtual shopping cart, on the same page that you're shopping. This allows you to see the relationship between fabrics you're considering. We also love that once you register with the site you can permanently maintain your shopping cart — it never expires. So you can search and collect fabrics you like and take your sweet ole time considering which ones you might purchase. Our friend also reported that she received her order really quickly! And free shipping if you order over $50 of fabric.
If you've used Quilt Home, how does it compare as a fabric source to other online sources?

I support a lot of small online shops to find my specialty fabrics.
But for the basic quilting and decor fabrics, in terms of service and price, fabric.com is hard to beat. They have a design wall feature and live chat, which I really appreciate. The live chat people answer honestly my persnickety questions on weight, grain, thread count... Then there's the no-questions-asked free return policy, free shipping for orders over $35...
Sounds like a great place.
When I first started quilting, looking for an appropriate cotton in a sea of synthetics was a challenge! My sister and I hit out of the way discount houses to find the right stuff.
Now there are boutiques devoted to quilting.
The online store sounds wonderful.
I ordered some joel dewberry fabric from them recently. It was great. It arrived very quickly, even with a handwritten note. I like supporting them!
I absolutely love Quilt Home. Their website may not look as snazzy as the others, but I've found they have better stock on hand when it comes to designer quilt fabric, especially compared to fabric.com. Also, when I ordered from quilt home I got my delivery in a fraction of the time compared to fabric.com.
I swear I don't work for them, I was just very impressed with with my experience. To be fair though, my exceptions were a little lower because I didn't find their website that attractive.
I love that bird fabric in the upper left hand corner. Is that offered on their site? I might have to go buy some...
Such lovely fabric... Alas, I am not a quilter. Does anyone have any experience getting a cutom quilt made - one that's good quality and doesn't cost an arm and a leg?
I love quilthome.com - they have a great selection and everything I've ordered (several orders) has come super fast.
Speaking of Repro depot, their selection, esp designer selection, seems to have really shrunk lately.
i like fabric.com shipping cost is very important to me.
The are literally hundreds of online fabric stores. OK if you know what you want. But nothing replaces touching and seeing the fabric in person. Support your local merchants.
BTW, Fabric.com is not an independent fabric store. They are owned by Amazon.com.
