Rhode Island artist and designer Rebecca Macri's decorative quilts remind us of the kind of flea market folk art treasures that we adore hunting for — a perfect mix of the nostalgic and the slightly bizarre combined with a distinctly contemporary sensibility.

The quilts are made from new and recycled fabrics and sometimes found materials like the patchworked map of France in her Birds Take Over France quilt. The first two small-scale quilts shown above are available in her Etsy shop, Modern Manifesto, for $100 or contact her through her website, rebeccamacri.com, for information about commissions. She also creates screen printed cards, artwork (we're seriously eyeing her "4 Humors" print series featuring root vegetables for our kitchen), and pillows that juxtapose a graphic outline of a grenade over a soft floral fabric.
