Quintessential Summer Fun At Home

Summer in San Francisco is nothing like the summers I grew up with in Chicago. There are few warm days and even fewer hot days, and who knows where one would find batting cages, roller rinks, space to grill, or outdoor pools. There are, however, excellent ice cream shops, and plenty of ways to bring a bit of classic summery-ness to your home.

• How do you feel about these "ice cream cone lamps for eco-friendly bulbs"? I could see them being really cute in a kid's room, or maybe to hang up on a patio for a party. Man, now I want a waffle cone.
• There are a ton of summery home sprays from Demeter, but I narrowed it down to Suntan Lotion, Orange Cream Pop, and Bonfire. Other contenders included Basil, Ocean, and Pink Lemonade.
• The SugarBaby cookbook has a recipe for making cotton candy at home, no machine required! There are also additional cotton candy tips on the SugarBaby blog, if you're having trouble. I would secretly love to own a full-size machine someday, but until then...
• It isn't summer without popcorn, but I'm not suggesting you buy a popcorn cart. No, I'm suggesting you buy a Fragrance Machine which, for only $819-$3,724, will allow you to fill your home with the scent of fresh-popped popcorn. Just like at the movies!
• I thought this list should start and end with ice cream (I really love ice cream), so here we have the porcelain ice cream container, made by kg+ab and available at The Curiosity Shoppe. It is not, of course, a container to hold your ice cream cone, but rather a whimsical vessel to hold your movie ticket stubs, friendship bracelets, skee-ball tickets, and other summer ephemera.
