It's spring, it's almost Easter and it's bunny season. We all know Peter Rabbit, the Velveteen Rabbit and Brer Rabbit, but there are plenty of literary rabbits to discover. Your library and bookstore probably have bunny book displays out - here are five of my favorites to look for:
For readers who want a dose of philosophy with their board book: Let's Make Rabbits by Leo Lionni
For readers learning their letters (with bonus song at the end): The ABC Bunny by Wanda Wanda Ga'g (author of Milions of Cats)
For readers who aren't into sweet, fluffy rabbits: Big Rabbit's Bad Mood by Ramona Bădescu
For readers who like to see goodness triumph: The Country Bunny and the Little Gold Shoes by Dubose Heyward (Author) and Marjorie Flack (Illustrator)
For readers who like to laugh or miss The Odd Couple: Duck! Rabbit! by By Amy Krouse Rosenthal and Tom Lichtenheld

Okay, maybe it's just me but it's a book called "Let's Make Rabbits" and the cover features two rabbits who look . . . cozy. I LOL'd.
ditto that, @nellymom!
I'm partial to My Friend Rabbit by Eric Rohmann. Cute Story.
Duck! Rabbit! is a favorite in our house.
Don't forget Watership Down by Richard Adams! It's not a picture book, but it makes a great read aloud for kids 5 and up.

Yep, those rabbits look like they're having sexy time. Love Leo Lionni though--such simple stories and nice, um, illustrations.
We LOVE 'Big Rabbit's Bad Mood'. It's hilarious, charming, and one of those stories you can read over and over without wanting to stab yourself with a fork.
Our favourite is "The Rabbit Problem" by Emily Gravit. It's based on Fibbinocci's Sequence and absolutely hilarous.
Yeah...I have a dirty mind too.
You forgot "Hopper Hunts For Spring" (our fave because our son's name is Hopper).
nellymom, YES. omg I thought the same thing. it looks like a rabbit breeding manual. :)
Glad to see that I'm not the only one who had dirty thoughts about that first book, haha.
